Whether you use them or not, almost everyone has at least heard about Essential Oils. They have been used for a long time and are becoming more and more popular to help with health and wellness.

You can use essential oils aromatically, such as through a diffuser. You can use them topically on your skin alone or with a carrier oil, depending on each oil. They can also be ingested, just make sure to do some research first on the oils you are using to make sure they are high grade and ingestible. Remember, not all essential oils are made the same.

That being said, did you know that you can actually use essential oils for cooking and baking? They can be used to replace certain herbs and spices. Remember that essential oils  are much more potent than regular herbs and spices so you only need a drop or so, depending on what you are making.

Cardamom
Cardamom has lots of benefits including helping with digestion, bad breath and it can even help uplift your mood. It is also wonderful in cooking and baking. You can used it to replace cardamom in your chai or those delicious cardamom cookies!

Cinnamon
This oil is helping in keeping your immune system healthy, it’s a natural insect repellent and it smells wonderful when diffused. When using it in the kitchen, you can add it to your waffle recipe, your favourite cake and even use if when making apple pie

Clove
It is an antioxidant and is known for cleaning teeth and gums.
Clove essential oil would be perfect for all your pumpkin baking recipes.

Lime
The benefits of lime include purification and healthy immune system.
Lime essential oil can be used to replace lime in your guacamole, just a drop or so will be enough. You can even use it in this delicious Honey Lime Chicken Wings recipe.

Peppermint
Peppermint essential oil helps with headaches, tummy problems and when you’re feeling stuffy. For cooking, use this oil to make a peppermint mocha or even to make a delicious chocolate recipe.

Basil
This oil has been known to be a great cooling agent for your skin and it can help with alertness when it’s being diffused.
If your recipe requires basil, such as in your homemade pasta sauce or pesto, basil essential oil works wonderfully.
