8 Canadian Winter Getaways

Today we are sharing some awesome Canadian Winter Getaways. Why you might ask? Well, as desis we tend to hibernate for the winter in our warmest coziest ugliest socks and the fleece hoodies that would never make it to Facebook. Is it the generations of warm weather living before us? Or perhaps the residual effect of all those “don’t go outside in the cold, you’ll get pneumonia”.

Well, while we do not advocate putting on your skimpiest saris and dancing in the snow a la Kajol in “Tujhe Dekha To Yeh Jaana Sanam”, we do think it’s time to break out of that winter rut. How? Celebrate winter and give yourself something to look forward to by planning a mini getaway! Don’t know where to go? Here are 8 Canadian Winter Getaways that will make you want to pack that puffer!

Okanagan Valley is a picturesque BC landmark that is just as beautiful in the winter as it is in the summer. The people here really celebrate winter in style with three different festivals! The first on the cards is the Wildlights Festival with it’s holiday themed lights show and activites. The Sun Peaks Winter Wine Festival runs from the 15th to the 24th overlapping slightly with Okanagan Wine and Dine (Jan 21 to Feb 7). Festivals aside, the Okanagan Valley is also a perfect venue for those looking to ski the weekend away!
